JPEG- Joint Photo Experts Group

This is web format. Photographs on Facebook are saved in JPEG it loses quality each time you edit it.

TIF- Tagged Image File Format

Desktop publishing. Has the option of lossless compression. It doesn't lose file quality

GIF- Graphics Interchange Format

This is used for short detail animations,often on the internet.

BMP-Bitmap

Low resolution. File size is large and not very practical.

PSD-Photoshop

Allows you to go back to a specific stage. Not web compatible. Used for front cover images and used for magazines. Supports transparency and saves layers.

AI- Adobe Illustrator

Used for logo designs, graphics can be scaled big and small as vectors. Have no loss in definition.
