Hannah, known for her incisively political photo collages and montages ( a form she helped pioneer). Höch appropriated and recombined images and text from mass media to critique popular culture, the fallings of The Welmar Republic and the socially constructed roles of woman. Hannah looked at the subject of gender and identity of woman in her work and once actually humorously criticised the concept of 'New Woman' in Weimar Germany. A vision of a woman who was purportedly man's equal.
