Photomontage is the process and the result of making a composite photograph by cutting, gluing, rearranging and overlapping two or more photographs into a new image. Sometimes the resulting composite image is photographed so that the final image may appear as a seamless physical print.
The photo montage was first used by Dadaists to express political dissent in 1915; it's essentially a collage of photographs used to express an idea.
Collage comes from the French word coller meaning "to glue" or "to stick together" It is a technique of art creation, primarily used in the visual arts, by which art results from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a whole new image.
A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of coloured or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas.

How did Collage art begin?
Collage Art began as an archetypally modern artistic technique. The word – from the French verb coller, meaning “to stick” – was first used to describe the Cubist innovations of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who began to stick newspaper cuttings and other materials onto their canvases in 1912.
Who discoverd collage art ?
Hannah Höch. Höch's most famous work, effortlessly titled 'Cut with the Dada Kitchen Knife through the Last Weimar Beer-Belly Cultural Epoch in Germany', shows her ideals and techniques in synthesis.
Introduction
In this assignment I was asked to produce a photo montage on Lockdown 3. It had to be a personalised photomontage relating to my personal feelings and experiences.
To create my photo montage/collage, I first thought about how I felt and how being on lockdown affected me, my family, not being able to socialise with friends, going to college and most of all how I was coping with everything in general.
First, I researched what is a collage and a photo montage to understand the task better then I collated different information and images on the internet, newspapers at home, photos and other resources. To produce a composition I rearrange the resources putting them together thoughtfully.
Evaluation
I really loved this task because I really love making photo collages for people's birthdays but to make my own personal photo collages it was really lovely how the images I used linked and worked together brilliantly. The one thing which i would like to say is this task might have been one of my favourite tasks in Photography Lessons with Sam
